Picnic With Buddhist/Isaiah Social Justice Group
Are you interested in adding social justice work to your Buddhist practice? Our multi-sangha ISAIAH affiliated Buddhist group is having an outdoor event Tuesday, June 15 from 6-8 at Newell Park in St Paul (on Pierce Butler Route just west of Snelling). We welcome ALL who are interested.
The first hour will be spent getting to know each other better. Bring supper (with beverage, plate, and utensils) for yourself and maybe a treat to share (if you are comfortable sharing). In the second hour we will consider together how our Buddhist practices and insights can help ground our activism, and how activism can be an important component of Buddhist practice.
We will also invite you to engage in a simple and specific action for social justice. Examples could include creating a postcard to mail to your state legislator thanking them for their efforts in the past session or to our Governor regarding Line 3, a basic social media activity to amplify a social justice issue, or an option to sign up for ISAIAH coordinated door to door literature drops.
Please RSVP to Anita McDonald at anitasmacdonald@gmail.com s o we can get a general idea of numbers. (But please come even if you couldn’t RSVP.) We are looking forward to gathering with you.
