Mental Health Professionals Community Groups
Common Ground offers two groups for professionals and graduate students in the field of mental health. The main purpose of these groups is to support one another to integrate mindfulness practice more deeply into our work lives. These ongoing, closed groups meet on a monthly basis. One group meets every third Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to noon; the other one meets every second Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. The groups follow a simple structure, including book study, reflection and discussion. Membership in each group is limited to 20.
We typically have openings for new members several times per year. Members are expected to have a regular meditation practice (or be in the process of establishing one). Membership is open to professionals currently working in the mental health and chemical dependency fields. Members include psychotherapists, social workers, counselors, psychiatrists, psychologists, psychiatric nurses, case managers, chemical dependency counselors, mental health workers and those in similar positions. Graduate students are also welcome to join. Members are asked to make a commitment to their group for six months at a time and should plan to attend at least three meetings within a given six month period.
Because of the nature of our profession, current and potential new members have the opportunity to check for any dual relationship concerns prior to admitting new members into the group.
If you would like to join one of our groups, please fill out the wait list registration form here. Otherwise, if you have any questions or need more information, please email us at mhp@commongroundmeditation.org.
Thank you for your interest.
