Ramesh Sairam

Ramesh has been part of the Common Ground sangha for over 20 years. He served on the Board of Directors from 2016-2022 and began a new term starting in 2026. He is a Geriatric psychiatrist with a deep professional interest in understanding the dynamic interplay between our minds and bodies that frequently underlies chronic mental and physical illnesses.

Ramesh was drawn to Buddha Dharma by the universality of the teachings, the focus on practice and self-reliance, and the absence of compulsion to believe specific creeds or dogmas. His spiritual practice is informed by the Buddha’s advice about the wisdom inherent in our bodies and guided by a commitment to meeting daily life in accordance with the teachings of the eight-fold path. He especially values the centrality of ethical conduct, compassion, and generosity in the teachings and practice.
