Robb Reed

A life-changing adventure began when Robb Reed visited Thich Nhat Hanh’s monastery in the French countryside in 1993. Thanks to the deep peace and joy he experienced there, he began exploring the inner terrain of the body, heart, and mind, allowing him to become a much happier and fulfilled person. He began his practice at the Minnesota Zen Center and came to Common Ground in 2002. Since his retirement from teaching in the public schools, Robb has taken numerous one- to three-month silent retreats, including ordaining as a monk in Myanmar for six weeks. Cognizant that mindfulness begins with body awareness, he sought out yoga teacher training and graduated from the Yoga Sanctuary in 2020. Two years later, he obtained another 200-hour certification in Viniyoga from 5 Koshas. In 2023 he spent a month in India studying with senior Viniyoga teachers at Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandarin. He is passionate about making yoga accessible to all bodies. Robb teaches a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course at the Bakken Center for Spirituality and Healing at the University of Minnesota and volunteers teaching a weekly yoga class at the Minneapolis Public Safety Facility (aka city jail). Robb is grateful to be a member of the Common Ground sangha as we continue our journey.
