Guest Teacher Talk with Amma Thanasanti: The Hidden Intelligence of Anger

When
Friday, Aug 14th, 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

The Buddha identified anger as one of the three root poisons—but the tradition has rarely paused to ask: which anger?

The anger of violated boundaries is not the same as the anger arising from trauma, masking grief, confronting injustice, protecting integrity, or carrying what has been passed down through generations. They may all be called anger, but they arise from different conditions, have different needs, and invite different responses.

The Dharma offers profound tools for working with anger. The question is whether we've always known which tool to apply to which kind of anger.

Drawing on nearly five decades of contemplative practice alongside trauma and attachment theory, Amma Thanasanti offers a framework that helps us recognize what kind of anger is present, understand what it is asking for, and respond with greater wisdom.

All are welcome. All experience levels. No prior meditation experience required.

Common Ground offers all programs freely in the spirit of generosity. If you'd like to volunteer or donate to support the teacher(s) and the center, visit https://commongroundmeditation.org/donate. If you donate, be sure to enter "Amma Thanasanti" in the Teacher/Program box. 2/3 of the donation supports the teacher(s) and 1/3 supports the general operations of the center.
