Turning Toward Anger: A Meditation and Inquiry Practice with Amma Thanasanti

We spend a lot of energy managing anger — containing it, avoiding it, or being consumed by it. This session invites something different: turning toward it with curiosity rather than aversion or indulgence.

Through guided meditation and paired inquiry, we will explore what it means to be with anger rather than driven by it. We will practice developing the steadiness and curiosity that allows difficult emotions to be met without being overwhelming — staying close to direct experience rather than analysis, and noticing what becomes available when anger is approached with enough care to be heard.

This session is not about resolving anger or going into its most intense forms. It is about building the capacity to be present with it — which is itself a profound and often undervalued practice.

Inquiry is not a substitute for therapy. When anger is compounded by significant trauma or ongoing harm, skilled clinical support may be what is needed. This session offers a contemplative complement to that work — not a replacement for it.

All experience levels welcome. You will be guided throughout. The session includes time for individual reflection, paired sharing, and open discussion.

Common Ground offers all programs freely in the spirit of generosity. If you'd like to volunteer or donate to support the teacher(s) and the center, visit https://commongroundmeditation.org/donate. If you donate, be sure to enter "Amma Thanasanti" in the Teacher/Program box. 2/3 of the donation supports the teacher(s) and 1/3 supports the general operations of the center.
